We originally created HeartWorks Writing, LLC to assist mental health treatment facilities and therapy offices with their documentation. Together, we have a combined 15 years of experience working and writing in the mental health field.
In 2021 we sold assets to the specialized mental health writing company we created!
We are honored to have built such a unique and niche business, and we are proud to have served the mental health heroes in our community.

Codi Chen (she/her)
My name is Codi Chen, and I’m currently living in Austin, TX, but I was born and raised a Michigan girl. I earned my B.S. in Travel & Tourism from Western Michigan University, as well as my CELTA certificate to teach English as a second language from Cambridge University.
I taught abroad and traveled extensively for over a decade (where I met my wife/business partner!). I always knew that I was going to be a writer, but I always wanted to be a writer AND…

I love working with entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits to help them find their voice and deliver their message in an authentic and engaging way. Whether it’s through copywriting, coaching, or instructing, my heart is full when others feel seen, understood, and successful.

I graduated from Sam Houston University with two degrees in International Business & Economics. I spent the majority of my career in management and training, but also building businesses from the ground up. I love problem solving and thinking outside of the box.
I was tired of being part of a system that values profit over people, so I spent time teaching and traveling abroad before working in nonprofits and within the mental health field back in the U.S.A.
I love engaging with our clients and helping them tell their story in their own voice. I can’t wait to work with you!
